"Looking for Fruit"
If you're paying attention to the orange trees in your yard like I am, you've probably noticed little green oranges starting to form on the branches. That comes as no surprise to you if you've been busy watering, fertilizing and caring for those trees over the spring and throughout the summer. It's exactly what we expect to see at this time of year.
The same thing is true about the spiritual plants in God's vineyard. During the first part of this season, God has been busy fertilizing and feeding us with His the story of what He has done to save us. He revealed His Son, sent to be our Savior. He told us the story of his amazing love for us, enduring the punishment for our sins and dying on a cross to win forgiveness for us. We have been pruned with his Law and fed with His teachings.
In these next few weeks we'll turn our attention to the fruit of His labor. We'll see that what He has done for us promotes the fruit of trusting hearts, repentant hearts, hearts that have a love for the lost, and hearts that continue to grow closer to our Lord.
God looks for fruit from his people but that's not something that fills us with fear or anxiety because He has done all the work already. We are branches connected by faith to the vine, Jesus Christ. He's pruned us and fed us and fertilized us with His Word and Sacraments. And now he calls us simply to be what we are - plantings of the Lord who produce the fruit He expects.
We invite you to be nourished with us at King of Kings in Apache Junction. Join us on Sundays at 9:00 am as Pastor Paul Schroeder feeds those attending with the Word of God.
Be our guest. Visitors are welcome. Maybe your visiting the East Valley and Apache Junction just for a few months. We are eager to meet you. Consider us your family away from your hometown. Contact our Pastor if you have questions or are looking for a church home in the East Valley.
